The Research Department of Commerce and Management Studies, in association with IQAC, The Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College (ZGC), organized a two-day workshop on “Fundamentals of Investments – Kona Kona Shiksha” on November 19 and 20, 2025. The programme was sponsored by Kotak Securities, and NISM (National institute of Securities Markets, An Educational initiative of SEBI), was organized by the Research Department of Commerce and Management Studies in association with IQAC ZGC, on November 19 and 20, 2025 (Wednesday and Thursday)
The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance students’ understanding of investment fundamentals, financial literacy, technical analysis, and to provide hands-on training in online trading.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Mayadevi Thambatti, Head of the Department, who highlighted the increasing relevance of investment awareness, the importance of savings, and the need for students to open demat accounts to participate actively in financial markets.

The technical sessions were conducted by Dr. Sanesh.C SEBI SMART Trainer (NSE, BSE, NSDL, CDSL, PFRDA, NCDEX, NISM). He delivered highly engaging and informative sessions covering technical analysis, online trading mechanisms, the importance of insurance, and safe investing practices. More than 80 students actively participated in the workshop.
The teacher coordinator for the programme was Mrs. Greeshma V, who ensured the smooth conduct of all sessions and activities. After the successful completion of the workshop, NISM will issue certificates to all participants.
The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, followed by a Vote of Thanks delivered by Abhin Das, Secretary of the Commerce Association
