The department of economics conducted an international seminar on “Agent Based Modelling in Economics” on 11.06.2026, Thursday at the college Research Center Auditorium. The technical session was engaged by Dr. Shyam Gauri Suresh, Professor of Economics, Davidson College, NC, USA. PG and UG Social science Students from various colleges in and around Kozhikode participated in the live session. The session was highly resourceful to the students as it ushered a new methodology of analyzing social behavior. The Agent Based Modelling in economics is a new computational simulation approach where autonomous, individual entities (agents) are programmed with specific behavioral rules. It has its advantages over the traditional ‘economic agents’ rationality and maximization behavior’ methodology in economics. The developments in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are of
