The Department of Chemistry, Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College, hosted an insightful invited lecture on 14 October 2024 by Prof. Dr. Venkata Ramana Doddi, Head and Dean, Central University of Karnataka. The session focused on the topic “Insights of Acetylenes for Sustainable Development”, highlighting the relevance of acetylene-based research in modern scientific and industrial applications.

Prof. Dr. Venkata Ramana Doddi provided an in-depth exploration of the chemistry of acetylenes and their potential contributions to sustainable development. He elaborated on innovative research approaches, environmentally friendly chemical transformations, and the role of acetylenes in advancing green chemistry. The lecture successfully connected advanced research concepts with practical sustainability concerns, enabling students to understand the broader impact of chemical research on society and the environment.

The session proved highly beneficial for both UG and PG students of the department.
